"Statement regarding events at M83's performance at the Wexner Center, Columbus, OH on the 18th July 2009.
I've been thinking about the events that happened at the end of show in Columbus last Saturday. Time and distance has given me the space to realize that my actions were clearly inappropriate. I wish to emphasise that inviting the crowd on stage was in no way calculated but simply a result of being caught up in the intensity of the moment and essentially celebrating what I believe had been a very positive and enjoyable performance for both the band and the audience. In retrospect though I understand why such actions were not the wisest and why the staff at the venue had requested me not to encourage the audience on stage. I sincerely apologize for the way I handled the situation, and in particular for trying to physically interfere with security staff at the venue who I fully accept were only trying to do their job of ensuring proper protection for both the band and members of the audience.
My reactions in the heat of the moment have caused me much regret and once again I offer my sincere apologies to all persons concerned with the show and at the venue. I feel that it is important to issue a public apology as I do not wish my actions to be perceived as in any way as condoning or encouraging aggressive behaviour.

M83 is pleased to announce new UK dates for the summer, including a headline show at KOKO on 7th July 2009, followed by an appearance at T in the Park on 11th July.
The dates in Brighton, London, Leeds and at T in the Park follow May's tour which included several headline shows and a fan-voted appearance at this year's All Tomorrow's Parties: The Fans Strike Back – described by the NME as “heaven's house band”.
Fellow Mute label mates Maps are very special guests on the tour.

After the long and arduous process of watching all the entries for the "We Own the Sky" video contest, a winner has been chosen. Congratulations to Young Replicant! Their entry has been chosen as the official video for "We Own the Sky" by M83.
Young Replicant is a teenage director's label and design collective hailing from Los Angeles. It consists of Alex Takacs (Director, DP), Joe Nankin (Director, Producer), Adam Kauper (DP, Camera Operator), and Jackson Siedenberg (Special Effects)
Their goal with this video was to interpret the pure, emotional essence of We Own the Sky, and then communicate it through a simple story about young love, lens flares, and a confetti party. They set out to capture the beauty that lies between the daunting uncertainty and eternal optimism of youth, a theme they felt was prevalent in Saturday=Youth and one which resonated in their own lives.
Anthony Gonzalez (aka M83) says of this video:
"I like the atmosphere of it cause it fits perfectly to the music and the lyrics. It's exactly what I had in mind when I wrote the song."

Following a 2008 UK tour with Kings of Leon, their own sold-out North American tour, their recent support slot on The Killers' US arena tour, and their television debut on Late Night With Conan O'Brien (1/27/09) M83 announce new US dates, including Sasquatch Music Festival. In addition, M83 will perform with the LA Philharmonic in a sold out concert sponsored by at the Walt Disney Concert Hall March 7th and on March 9th M83 will perform their current single "Kim and Jesse" on Last Call With Carson Daly.
Describing the live show as "propulsive" and "hypnotic," The New York Times proclaims M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez as the "electro pop wizard of a fragile dream world" (1/26/09). Rolling Stone says Gonzalez wins their award for "Our favorite French musician ever" (2/5/09).

After working on the first two videos for SATURDAYS=YOUTH with Matthew Frost (Graveyard Girl) and Eva Husson (Kim&Jessie), M83 is now extending an open call to fans to submit their best video interpretations of "We Own The Sky", their latest single from SATURDAYS=YOUTH.
Anyone who wants to submit an entry has until Feb 20, 2009 to produce a video for "We Own the Sky" and upload it onto the youtube contest page youtube.com/group/m83 The winning entry will have its Pitchfork TV debut early next year + Converse prizes
